Over the evaluation period, AWM channelled £257m into the Regeneration Zone areas through Zone companies and secretariats, with an additional £443m spent on projects within the Zone geographical areas but independent of Zone mechanisms.
Key Findings
The evaluation study on the Regeneration Zones was completed in May 08 and the key findings include:
• 6,340 jobs created and safeguarded
• 870 businesses created
• 4,050 business assisted
• 1,440 people assisted to get a job
• 19,410 people assisted in skills development
• £253m GVA (based on the assumption that all outputs created by the projects will last for one year)
