Advantage West Midlands is seeking to appoint a chair for the new regional marketing board which is being established in 2008 to build a global reputation for the region as a great place to invest, work, learn, visit and live.
The appointment will demand a charismatic and forward-thinking professional with the flair and credibility to spearhead marketing activities that will draw investors, businesses, residents, students and visitors to the region.
Providing a powerful voice for the region, as outlined in the West Midlands Economic Strategy (WMES) Connecting to Success, is a key priority for Advantage West Midlands.
The WMES acknowledges that the West Midlands is a large and potentially powerful player in a national and international context – but building a reputation outside the region which communicates the passion and pride felt by West Midlands citizens remains a challenge.
The creation of a West Midlands regional marketing board in 2008 will help address that challenge. It will be made up of some of the region’s most influential marketers and produce a revised marketing strategy and set of priorities.
The chair of board will have a track record in chairing high-profile influencing groups – at a regional level and beyond. The job will involve leading at least six Board meetings, plus an annual marketing forum, to visibly influence and harmonise strategies of regional partners.
The two-year appointment is anticipated to be for 24 days per year and carries a salary circa £12,000. The 24 days will include preparation time for meetings, with full secretarial and admin support.
The closing date for applications is Friday May 16th.
