Mick Laverty, Chief Executive at Advantage West Midlands, said:

“It’s great news for the region that these schemes will be going forward.  Both are crucial elements in the wider regeneration of Longbridge and West Bromwich town centre.

“This achievement clearly shows the benefits of working together with partners to make a real difference to people’s lives across the region.

“We will continue to work with those colleges which didn’t progress to the next round to explore other solutions.”

Regional Minister, Ian Austin said:

“To get two colleges out of 13 nationally is a huge achievement for the Region.

“This achievement has only been possible because the colleges, LSC, Advantage West Midlands, Local Authorities and local MPs all worked together to ensure these projects were ready to go.

“Not only will they drive up skills – our Region’s top priority - in Birmingham and the Black Country, but also help regenerate Longbridge and West Bromwich town centre.”

Roger Phillips, Chair of the Joint Strategy and Investment Board, said:

“The Board will be delighted that Longbridge and West Bromwich, two of the Impact Investment Locations (IIL) identified in our Regional Funding Advice (RFA), will be receiving this boost.

"Our aim through the RFA is to maximise the benefits from all public sector investment in the region by focusing our efforts on twenty locations that will bring the biggest return to the region’s economy. “
