Ericsson to withdraw from Ansty Park
10/11/2009

Today’s announcement by Swedish telecommunications company Ericsson to withdraw from Ansty Park, near Coventry, next year - with the potential loss of around 700 jobs - is a real shock to the region, said Advantage West Midlands Chief Executive Mick Laverty.
“These are just the sort of high quality jobs the West Midlands can ill afford to lose,” said Mr Laverty.
“Advantage West Midlands has an excellent working relationship with Ericsson’s UK operations team and we were delighted when the company became the first official occupier at Ansty Park just six months ago.
“Today’s announcement is a shock to the region and a sad day for the workforce at Ericsson. Our number one priority now is to get partners together as soon as possible to minimise the economic impact of today’s news on Coventry and the wider region.
“Plans to start work on the £40 million Manufacturing Technology Centre at Ansty Park next Spring remain on schedule.
“The MTC will play a vital role in supporting UK manufacturing companies, and their supply chains, to bring about major improvements in their manufacturing competitiveness.”
