About Worcestershire

Worcestershire is a county of taste renowned for its variety of produce: fruits and vegetables from the vale of Evesham, award winning wines, sausages and cheese. Worcester itself is world-famous for the Worcestershire sauce, still produced in the city by the recipe of John Lea and William Perrins, dating back to the 1820s. The Malvern Hills are equally famous for Malvern Spring Water, bottled and distributed world-wide.

Worcestershire offers a variety of shopping experiences, from the hustle and bustle of local markets to quality antique shops and galleries in Malvern or the Cotswold village of Broadway.

Important heritage attractions within the county include the Severn Valley Railway - Britain’s premier steam railway, Avoncroft Museum of Historic Buildings, Witley Court and Hanbury Hall. By way of contrast, the county is also home to Malvern Hills Science Park and one of the UK’s foremost research and development centre – QinetiQ.

Britain’s longest river, the Severn, has helped shaped the Worcestershire landscape. The river is popular for fishing, boating and is the scene of several colourful regattas and festivals that take place throughout the summer. The Three Counties Showground, near Malvern, plays host to events throughout the year including the three day agricultural show, popular Spring and Autumn gardening shows, antiques fairs and classic car shows.

A New Era in European Auto Industry

There is a growing demand for cars, not a diminishing one, and over the next 20 years more new cars will be made than in the entire 110 years of the industry to date. There will be a need for 180 new car plants, typically making 330,000 cars annually and plants will need investment likely to exceed $80 Trillion. said Welsh Automotive Forum chairman Prof Garel Rhys during a NEAC conference in Wales last month.
