Eastside

Advantage West Midlands is working in partnership with Birmingham City Council and investing £68 million in this ten year project to transform the east side of Birmingham City centre with a new City Park, a Learning and Leisure Quarter and Eastside Locks, a mixed use technology park.

Eastside Locks is the 6.5 hectare (16 acre) site around Millennium Point will see the development of over one million sq ft high quality, sustainable mixed-use scheme which will boost the wider regeneration of Birmingham’s Eastside.  Goodman has been appointed to carry out the £300m development by the City Council and Advantage West Midlands and plan to build 600,000 sq ft of offices and over 400 residential units.

On land owned by Advantage West Midlands, the 4.9 hectare (12 acre) Learning and Leisure Quarter is a major education-based development which is emerging as a base for several of the major learning institutions in Eastside and Advantage West Midlands are bringing this forward.

The Learning and Leisure Quarter has become home to the Birmingham City University's New Technology Institute, and is due to house the faculties of art and media together with the Conservatoire in a new campus of over 50,000 sq. m, a student housing development of 600 bed spaces by Watkins Jones (pictured) and a business outreach centre for Matthew Boulton College.

A new 8 acre City Park is planned, linking the Learning and Leisure Quarter to Ventureast, and also combining with other schemes in Eastside to create an exemplar of sustainable development forming a new quarter for Birmingham.
