The role of Advantage West Midlands in planning
To promote economic development and assist in the delivery of the West Midlands Economic Strategy, Advantage West Midlands engages in all levels of the regional planning system.
Advantage West Midlands employs a team of specialist planners to deliver a range of complex policy consultations, large-scale planning applications and co-ordination of statutory consultation responses.
In particular, the planning team works to align the West Midlands Economic Strategy with other regional strategies, notably the Regional Spatial Strategy. We do this by working closely with the West Midlands Regional Assembly and other regional partners and stakeholders.
Advantage West Midlands also assists in the promotion and progression of projects of regional economic importance through the planning system, such as the redevelopment of Longbridge and the Eastside regeneration programme in Birmingham.
Advantage West Midlands responds to national planning issues, both individually and collectively with the other regional development agencies.
