Priority 1: Engaging with the Single Market

In order to make most of the opportunities of the EU Single Market, the regional businesses, institutions and citizens should be both comfortable and confident when operating within it and beyond. There are a range of European Programmes which can promote this activity. The ERDF and ESF programmes for 2007-2013 have a broad range of initiatives designed to boost the Single Market. Interregional cooperation programmes such as Interreg have significant potential, particularly their innovation strands. Read more on these programmes by viewing the 'Related Links'.

These initiatives will be coordinated by Engaging with the Single Market Group led by UK Trade and Investment (UKTI). The Groups objectives are:

  • Boost Export to the EU

  • Promote the West Midlands as a region for inward investment

  • Enhance the skills of the workforce and the knowledge of the single market

  • Work with business partners for joint cooperation in Third Country markets beyond Europe
