Phase 5 - Publication of the revised West Midlands Economic Strategy
Connecting to Success
We are now in the final phase in the WMES review process. The new West Midlands Economic Strategy "Connecting to Success" will be launched on 10th December 2007 at the opening of the new Longbridge Innovation Conference Centre at the Longbridge Technology Park.
The event will be hosted by Liam Byrne MP, Home Office Minister of State for Borders and Immigration, and Minister for the West Midlands. The outcome from the Phase Two revision of the West Midlands Regional Spatial Strategy will be launched at the same event, alongside the revised Economic Strategy.
In addition, we will be launching the draft Delivery Framework, setting out in more detail how the Economic Strategy will be delivered. Our intention, following discussion on the draft Delivery Framework with partners and stakeholders in the region, is to be in a position to implement the final version of the Delivery Framework from the start of the next financial year, commencing 1st April 2008.
A number of supporting documents will be made available at the same time as the launch of the revised Strategy. These will include:
An analysis of responses to the Consultation Draft
A summary of the WMES review process, including details of changes made to the Strategy as a result of consultation feedback received
A report providing further information on the context, evidence and rationales underpinning the revised Strategy
A report providing baseline information on the outcome indicators that will be used to track progress against the Strategy
A Sustainability Appraisal /Strategic Environmental Assessment Report on the Strategy
The revised draft Strategy and Delivery Framework were put to the Regional Assembly for endorsement at their meeting on 24th October 2007.
