Launch of Open and Limited Calls for Outline Proposals


This section of the website provides information on all the Open and Limited Calls for Outline Proposals under the West Midlands European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) Programme 2007 to 2013.

Open Call for Outline Proposals - Priority 1 - Promoting Innovation and Research & Development

The Open Call for Outline Proposals is in relation to Priority 1 – Promoting Innovation and Research & Development and specifically Portfolio 2 of Priority 1, which is concerned with Stimulating Knowledge Transfer.

The Open Call for Outline Proposals has been agreed in partnership via Priority Steering Group 1 and invites Outline Proposals from any interested organisations.

The closing date for Outline Proposals for this call is 12.00 noon on Friday 30th January 2009.

Open Call for Outline Proposals - Priority 2 - Stimulating Enterprise Development

The Open Call for Outlline Proposals is in relation to Priority 2 - Stimulating Enterprise Development and specifically Portfolios 1, 2 and 3 of Priority 2.

The Open Call for Outline Proposals has been agreed in partnership via Priority Working Group 2 and invites Outline Proposals from any interested organisations.

Amendment to Call - 31 October 08 Micro Finance Provisions

In light of increased demand for micro finance in the current economic climate, an additional £2.25m of ERDF for micro finance proposals has been made available under Portfolio 3 Subset 3 of this call. In addition, £2.25m of Agency Single Budget has been made available for use as match funding for micro finance proposals coming forward through this call. More details can be found in the revised bidding documentation available from the Related Documents section.

In addition a template outline application has been prepared for those interested in submitting a proposal for micro finance provision under this call. The template makes reference to relevant areas of the regional evidence base and can be downloaded from the Related Documents section. Individual applicants will still need to adapt this application to provide more detailed information on the specific level and direction of their intended provision.

Workshop Materials

To aid applicants to develop projects under this bidding round two workshops have been held:

Workshop 1 was held on 30 September and provided information on the call; advice on the products under the Business Support Simplification Programme; information on Business Link West Midlands provision and recommendations on how to ensure appropriate linkages are made and duplication is avoided. 

Workshop 2 took place on 30 October and provided a forum for applicants to ask more detailed questions that had arisen as they develop their proposals.

A special workshop for those interested in submitting micro finance proposals was held on 19 November.

The closing date for Outline Proposals for this call is 12 noon on Friday 5th December 2008.

Open Call for Outline Proposals - Priority 4 - Developing Inter-Regional Activity


The Open Call for Outline Proposals is in relation to Priority 4 - Developing Inter-Regional Activity. Specifically, Outline Proposals are invited for activities aligned to the three main priorities of the ERDF Programme:

  • Priority 1 - Promoting Innovation and Research & Development

  • Priority 2 - Stimulating Enterprise Development

  • Priority 3 - Achieving Sustainable Urban Development

The Open Call for Outline Proposals has been agreed in partnership via Priority Steering Group 4 and invites Outline Proposals from any interested organisations.

The closing date for Outline Proposals for this call is 12.00 noon on Friday 5th December 2008.
